No. We 'did it' to ourselves. This treaty is Bush's baby... he has been for it all along to give a kick-start to his faltering Free Trade efforts... it was to be the center-piece of his Free Trade efforts, eve since his election. He believed it a necessary precursor to bringing Brazil into the WTO negotiations on favorable terms to the US. If what we are saying is "a commitment to Free Trade, Democracy, and Capitalism aren't enough... you must always vote the same way as us in every international forum" ...then we are shooting ourselves in the foot, and we are acting like idiots, against our own national interests.
