To you they weren't lies & distortions because they were directed at Bush.

And they said far more than they didn't like Bush.

Sean Penn declared Iraq WMD free.

In the 19 months since 9-11, we have seen our democracy
compromised by fear and hatred. Basic inalienable rights,
due process, the sanctity of the home have been quickly
compromised in a climate of fear...... A chill wind is
blowing in this nation. A message is being sent through the
White House and its allies in talk radio and Clear Channel
and Cooperstown. If you oppose this administration, there
can and will be ramifications...... Every day, the air
waves are filled with warnings, veiled and unveiled
threats, spewed invective and hatred directed at any voice
of dissent. And the public, like so many relatives and
friends that I saw this weekend, sit in mute opposition and
fear...... In this time when a citizenry applauds the
liberation of a country as it lives in fear of its own
freedom..... The journalists in this country can battle
back at those who would rewrite our Constitution in Patriot
Act II, or "Patriot, The Sequel," as we would call it in
Hollywood..... And any instance of intimidation to free
speech should be battled against.

Tim Robbins

Several months ago, while in Spain accepting an award,
Jessica Lange stated that George Bush "stole the election"
and the U.S. people have been "suffering under his
leadership," adding he "struts around like he is in some
Wild West show" and that she finds him "absolutely
reprehensible".

"What lies, what distortions..... They said they didn't like Bush....."

Michael Moore

When asked the motivation for the war in Iraq, Michael
Moore replied, "The motivation for war is simple. The U.S.
government started the war with Iraq in order to make it
easy for U.S. corporations to do business in other
countries. They intend to use cheap labor in those
countries, which will make Americans rich. The U.S.
government claims to bring democracy to Iraq; however, no
country in the world takes such an assertion seriously. It
is an illusion."

....President Bush, however, has destroyed it <peace in the
region>. He identified his military forces as crusaders
and started the war with Iraq as a mission of God. When I
look at his face when he makes such speeches, I feel that
the U.S. has become a fearful country.....

Sarandon Ludicrously Claims $200 Billion Cut in Vet Spending

Actress Susan Sarandon defended the value of her free
speech rights by citing, on Friday's Early Show,
how “sometimes I have information” a value to the public,
such as how “over the next ten years two hundred and some
billions of dollars” will be “cut from the budget” for
veterans benefits. Sarandon suggested that “people don't
know this,” but “I can tell people that this is about to
happen.” She asked: “Now should I be quiet because I have
information other people don't have? No.” Others don't have
her “information” because her claim is ludicrous.

Comedienne-turned-peace-activist Janeane Garofalo
offered a stunning admission on Sunday, explaining that she
and her fellow anti-war protesters didn't stage huge
demonstrations when President Clinton launched attacks on
Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan and the Sudan because "it wasn't
very hip" to protest the former president. Garofalo went on
to claim that Hollywood actors Susan Sarandon and Tim
Robbins led protests against Clinton's 1998 Iraq attack,
saying that "there was a lot of protest, just as there was
against the first Gulf War." A Lexis-Nexis search for
December 1998, the month Clinton bombed the daylights out
of Baghdad, failed to turn up a single report that
mentioned either Sarandon or Robbins protesting the
attacks.........

American actor George Clooney stepped up his criticism of
George W. Bush's administration on Sunday, saying he feared
a war against Iraq was inevitable but would ultimately only
lead to more violence. "America's policies frustrate me,"
Clooney said in a German television program. "I think a war
against Iraq is as unavoidable as it senseless. I think
it's coming. But I also think the real danger is going to
be what happens after it."

Clooney said Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was making a
mistake to think a war against Iraq would be an easy win
for the United States. "I believe he thinks this is a war
that can be won, but there is no such thing anymore," said
Clooney.....

...“Yes, he’s racist,” Glover said in response to a
question from a reporter from the Brazilian magazine Into
E, according to our source’s translation. “We all knew that
but the world is only finding it out now. As Texas’s
governor, Bush led a penitentiary system that executed more
people than all the other U.S. states together. And most of
the people who died from [the] death penalty were Afro-
Americans or Hispanics.” Glover continued: “[Bush] promoted
a conservative program, designed to eliminate everything
Americans had accomplished so far in matters of race and
equality.”...

David Clennon, star of the hit CBS television series "The
Agency," said Monday that the "moral climate" of America
under President Bush is similar to that which pervaded Nazi
Germany. Then, apparently not satisfied with merely
insulting the U.S., Clennon contended that the only
difference between Bush and Adolf Hitler is that Hitler was
smarter.

Farrell, who's co-starred in the television series "M-A-S-H"
and "Providence," said Hollywood was speaking out to show
average citizens that it's OK to voice dissent. He also
said he did not believe that Bush has proven Iraq is a
danger to America. "It is inappropriate for the
administration to trump up a case in which we are
ballyhooed into war," Farrell said.

"Let us resist this war," Sarandon told the cheering
crowd. "Let us hate war in all its forms, whether the
weapon used is a missile or an airplane." The protesters
brandished signs reading: "No Proof, No War," "Bush Sucks"
and "Pre-emptive Impeachment." Some protesters carried
Iraqi flags. "No war, no way," shouted a protester wearing
a mask of Bush with horns and a pitchfork. "George Bush,
you can't hide. We charge you with genocide!" chanted the
demonstrators, who were escorted by mounted U.S. Park
Police and watched by 600 police officers along the route
in the heart of the nation's capital.

Barbra Streisand has reminded Democratic Leader Richard
Gephardt in a blistering memo: "Sadam Hussein did not bomb
the World Trade Center." The singeractressdirectorproducer
took time out from rehearsals for a performance she's
giving on Sunday for the Democratic Congressional Campaign
Committee to remind Gephardt not to "ignore the obvious
influence on the Bush Administration of such special
interests as the oil industry, the chemical companies, the
logging industry... just to name a few." Streisand
notes: "Many of these industries, run by big Republican
donors and insiders, clearly have much to gain if we go to
war against Iraq." Streisand urges the Democrats
to "publicly convey this message to the American people."
