Interesting. I think most of us know that a dollar earned is preferable to a whole load of conditional handouts. Probably one of the best arguments against socialism.

For example Indonesia hopes to pay for some fancy fighter jets using a broad base of commodities as exchange..

with part of the payment to be in commodities, mainly palm oil

The population density vs. wealth statements can be argued against. The most densely populated regions are the wealthy industrialized nations. There were some posts on FADG some months back showing that Africa was poor because of it's low population density.

As a kid in the sixties I used to hear all the crapola about population explosions. Glad I stuck around to see what the year 2000 was really like -g-
