wstera,

Respectfully, the $75 to $100 billion that Bush spent on Iraq would have bailed ALL 50 states out. In the end it is all the same fiscally -- because the sate & fed are immeasurably tied at the hip. So if you "bail" out a state -- you are essentially bailing out yourself directly/indirectly.

Fixing Massachusetts or Pennsylvania -- is no different then fixing your right hand or left arm economically. One cannot operate without them and vice versa. They are all part of the same blood-flowing body.

USA "body" is made up of 50 functioning parts called States. To ignore a state's need is to cut off your nose to spite your face. The IRS collects as much as 5 times more income tax revenue from a state's employee -- then the very state itself. So it only makes sense to support/encourage that source of income.

Who will bail out the federal government? They are the entity with the huge debt. You know the answer. We and our children and grandchildren will pay for it in a reduced standard of living.
