..Try literature and philosophy. Read a bit of history. Go to a museum or two. Learn about lifestyles. Only then can you compare the cultural richness of France and the US. These were viewed as luxuries when the colonies and then the US was young enough to be fighting for survival. (Roughly, the first 200 years after the Pilgrims landed.) Only the elite had leisure to dwell on these, and the elite as represented by the upper classes left behind in Europe had a bad reputation. Political and economic issues of the present were much more important than the glories of the past which were enjoyed by and benefited only a few. These attitudes left their mark. Generally speaking, Americans do focus on the present and the future and prefer the ephemeral "popular" culture. We are never going to understand peoples who hold grudges going back hundreds of years, and only a few Americans will truly appreciate the grandeur that was Greece and the glory that was Rome. Europeans may call this situation "sad", but most Americans won't.

Our American peacenik hippies needed to be reminded AGAIN of just how idiotically wrong they have been. Remember the predictions of horrific American losses from urban fighting in Baghdad? How no city of 5.5 million people had been taken since WW2? The comparisons of taking Baghdad to the Battle of Stalingrad? How the ENTIRE ME was going to rise against us as one? Terrorism in the US on a daily basis? Chem-Bio attacks against American cities with thousands of casualties? And you think we should LISTEN to YOU? Why not hire Nancy Reagan's fortuneteller instead? She certainly did no worse. You clowns are pathetic.
