As I've told you, I am profoundly disappointed that Bush hasn't been as courageous on the domestic spending front as he has in foreign policy.

Deep cuts are needed. Deep, measurable, visible cuts. With a repub congress, Bush has a rare opportunity to restructure federal spending and get the country on the right fiscal foundation.

Perhaps in his second term...

Ironically, many say Washington state's poor economy -- and $2.4 billion budget deficit -- is why Locke's own approval ratings have plummeted. One pollster recently put voters' overall approval of Locke's job performance at only 30 percent, less than half of its peak several years ago. That irony was not lost on the GOP.
