There is good reason to believe that Ted Kennedy was not even in the car.

The most believable theory I heard that meets the evidence is that Kennedy got out of the car a mile or two from the accident. He was drunk, saw a police car and got out of the car ASAP and got Mary Jo to continue driving. He walked off to get a ride with someone else.

She was not familiar with the area and had the accident at the bridge.

The next day witnesses said Kennedy was in good spirits until he ran into some of his buddies who knew of the accident and his mood changed to horror.

Then the cover up started. A cowards cover up.

In this case, the cover up is much worse than the crime.

There is a big difference between Bush and Kennedy. Bush admitted his guilt and took the mild punishment. Kennedy ran and lied.
