Two Toronto Visitors Monitored For SARS

POSTED: 2:02 p.m. EDT April 26, 2003

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Two recent visitors to Toronto are being monitored as possible SARS cases in the U.S.

They include a 2-year-old Minnesota boy and a Brown University professor in Rhode Island. The unnamed professor works in the division of biology and medicine and has been asked to stay away from campus.

A statement posted on the school's Web site yesterday said students who have been in contact with the professor have been informed about the situation.

A 14-month-old in Minnesota was also classified yesterday as a probable SARS case. Health Department officials say the baby was recently in China.
