"I'm old enough to remember when some people couldn't find a meal or a bed for the night."

The baton has been passed. The more things change the more they remain the same. Educated, white, male, veteran by the side of the road carrying a cardboard sign saying "Please help, and God Bless." Maybe his ancesters were French or something. Well, but he's dirty and he ought to get a job. Gee, where have I heard that before? Maybe he is tired of being passed over by those with protected status. Maybe he is a father who has been denied any parenting rights while being sued for support. Maybe he is just tired of taking responsibility for everyone else's complaints about who's fault their suffering is and has just decided to join em'.

Are you old enough to remember when that wasn't so? When a man was honored for being a good father to his children and encouraged as the "man of the house?" When testosterone was not a dirty word? That certainly is a testosteronely and politically incorrect thing to say isn't it. I hope I don't get bashed to bad for thinking about it. Well not to worry the idea of "man of the house" has been pretty much "cleansed" from society. We've accomplished so much...
