If you read views by people whom you respect, then I would say yes. I generally give credence to judgments of people whose views I respect.

I cannot experience everything myself, and I read widely to avail myself of the judgment and experience of others. Of course I judge their judgments, in that I expect them to make sense. If they do I use them. I recollect you doing the same thing. It would be a very odd person, with very narrow views, who confined themselves only to judgments on their personal experiences. Why you could have no opinion on the Iraq, without having been there, and experienced it. THAT kind of need for experience would cramp the style of folks no end. Probably even your style.
