I wasn't and don't defend Hussein. He was a fairly bad dictator, perhaps in the top 20 for the last 60 years. Bin Laden's gang are international criminals and equally indefensible.

My point was that there simply isn't good objective evidence that Hussein and Bin Laden were collaborating in any substantial way before 9-11. Perhaps it will be found, and that will be interesting, but so far it hasn't been.

And in fact, I'm not sure it even matters any more except politically. The Hussein regime is gone, and Al Quaeda is a shadow of its former self. North Korea and India/Pakistan are the two big threats to world peace at this point.
