However, many USA "ethnic" artists have taken refuge in France, from
Josephine Baker to Sidney Bechet, given their dilemmas in USA.

That is, there is a reason why that french statue outside New York rises
from the broken shackles.

Hmm, in these days of another set of declassified McArthy papers, there
is also a reason why Chaplin had to leave USA, despite "the Great Dictator"
and, well, that thing about the New World, waving a red flag dropped by a truck
with an oversized load.

btw, cannot remeber her name just now, the "cat like" singer, woman, who finally
could visit USA again during the beginning of the Clinton era. (one is not supposed
to remember her name, although she was so popular in USA earlier)
