The South hemisphere is the mirror image of the North in this respect. Same cause - Coriolis effect.

The continents are small in the southern hemisphere and so the temperature extremes are lower. But the west and east coasts have the same patterns of climate as in the Northern hemisphere. Summer rain on the east coast and high humidity, winter rain (mediterranean climate) on the west coast (i.e. Chile, Cape Province, Western Australia/South Australia) and dryer air in the 30-40 degrees zone with high rainfall further south - southern Chile, Tasmania and desert tp the north.
