While the A10 isnt really fast, I am impressed with its armor and maneuverability. I dont think any speed beyond theirs is useful in ground support. jdn Everything the Air Force has got now is going to close air support, or CAS, as it is referred to. The big need is to increase "loiter" time. The A-10 is the best at this. The F-15/18 suck at it. The biggest problem, IMO, is going to be to get the Air Force to admit what they need to do, and design the future planes around it, rather than the "wild blue" they want to do. I expect a big jump in robot design. "Terminator" type attack planes.
