More carbon in the atmosphere may help end the ice age (though we aren't sure about the long-run dynamics of the climate system at all). Still, I'd guess we are well on the way to the optimum level right now in terms of a balance between sea level and air temperature. Leaving that big pile of ice down in the Southern Hemisphere sounds like a good idea to me. Where I am here on the Hudson River would be underwater otherwise. The other extreme where 20000 years ago it was under ice is not desirable either....
