I remember watching films of american soldiers close to a blast ducking for cover and turning away from the blast. Its hard to believe now that the military wasnt trying to find out what the effects of a nuclear blast would be on these units short term with concern or much thought for long term problems.

Thanks. That, or a very similar documentary was the one in which the soldiers were being told radiation should be the least of their concerns. I've never believed in trusting the government. Any government. So I am not playing favorites here. I think as one moves further up the social food chain and bureaucracies pile up, preservation of the system becomes more important than the welfare of the people who make up the system. Being one of the little people, this makes me wary of leviathans (thanks CB :)
