"realistic in terms of the time it takes to get the networks to be stable"

Maybe WSJ has learned the brittish way to sneak in some realistic stuff at
some point of the patriotic propaganda, anyway, it is not an easy task to be
paper, often facing enormous tasks.

Hutchison split its money between CDMA and WCDMA.

Here in Thailand CDMA and in Europe WCDMA. That to know who was the real deal. This is important because, Hutchison is a the only 3G game in town: UK, Italy, Australia, Thailand. Look to to Sweden's 3G screw up to see how the Scandinavians who pretent to be the mobile throughbreds to know what I mean by the 'only 3G game in town'.

The Europeans know that Asia didn't invest in telecoms infrastructure between 1997 and 2001 (Asia telecoms by-passed the bubble) in the aftermath of the crisis, so there is a market still here. They are desperate for a footprint in Asia -Taiwan, Singapore, HK- but they are -apparently- not delivering.

Customers are lining up for 3G phones in Italy. 3 has started off well with its 3G operations in Italy. Today, 50,000 subscribers use 3G services, another 90,000 are waiting in line and the company expects to reach the target of one million subscribers the first year. There are no handset price reductions for the pioneers; Eur 740 for the only available model from NEC. Hutchison's operations in the UK are not progressing as smoothly as in Italy and the price for a 3G phone from 3 has been cut in half. (Dagens Industri)

If not for the HK Chinese Hutchison, what would have been of 3G in Europe?
