how is that giving approval to invade Iraq?

No doubt, the U.S. allowed Saddam to invade Kuwait as a pretext to permanently station troops in the oil rich Persain Gulf

shouldn't that be the "U.N." and not the U.S.? As we have recently learned, the UN is not the lapdog of the U.S. and therefore the UN sanctions in 1990 cannot be solely attributed to the U.S.
