"I prefer the model of partner, friend, nurturer, decent fellow." Nice characteristics albeit vague and a somewhat utilitarian view of what a man is. In that sense I would say limiting as well.

I would add the following to your list of characteristics of a strong man: He is a person with a sense of vision. He can envision results, the rewards, the path to follow, and an organized approach to getting there. He is goal oriented and makes plans to pursue and achieve things in a way that allows him to enjoy himself and others in the context of a job well done and a life well lived. He is able to postpone pleasurable experiences in lieu of a self-disciplined regimen when needed. He lives a reasoned life. Know your self and as Shakespeare says, “To thine own self, be true.” This means he has to come clean on the reasons that he does the things he does and is willing to be held accountable for them. He derives inspiration from reason and this is what gives meaning to his life. He has established principles that he lives by. He approaches life from a well-reasoned set of core values? When working on a large or challenging tasks he makes certain that his goals and methods are realistic and in line with his principles of life. He is humble enough to hook up with or observe people that model the kind of behavior that results in successful living. He organizes his schedule, arranges resources and plans strategies for accomplishing his tasks while monitoring and adjusting his calendar to keep himself realistic and on track. He plans for, rehearses, and actively blocks tempting influences that could distract him from completing his objectives. He finds accomplishing a task rewarding and does not use attractive distractions as an excuse to be off task. He is aware of temptations, excuses, fears, and self-cons that keep him from success and he addresses them directly for what they are, and makes plans to over come them. He takes the first step, goes the extra mile and takes responsibility for his actions and their effects on others. He maintains a positive regard for the well being of all innocent creatures great and small and is a force to be reckoned with by anyone who would do harm to an innocent creature. He does not apologize for testosterone he is grateful for it and it helps to make him everything that he was created for, can be, and is.
