1. They initiated a terrorist war against Israel.

... while under Israel's brutal occupation. Some might call that fighting for freedom or something.

2. They are losing the war, badly.

I thought both sides were hurting. Besides, the fact that the ratio of casualties have "improved" in favor of Palestinians - from 1:20 to 1:3 (1 Israeli killed for every three Palestinian). That does not seem like a deteriorating situation.

Besides, you might like to consider just how little "they are losing the war" means to a group of people who have nothing to lose. What do you think they risk if they don't give up now - losing their country? :-)

3. They can't afford to continue the status quo

Why not? What is the shining alternative they are giving up in continuing the status quo?
