US can never justify that to its own people, the Americans. That's who counts most for the US, remember?

Agreed. That would never fly. Didn't Sharon tell Bush to shove it last time he asked for something? Most American's patience with Israel is wearing very thin. With changes in the area, Israel may find the U.S. increasingly willing to tell them to shove it.

RE: "The US gives tacit approval to the Israeli "transfer" policy"

Check the definition of "tacit".

RE: "Just what correlation do you see between expansion of Israeli settlements into Palestinian territory and continued terrorism?"

You mean "disputed territory" of course. Terrorism makes peace unlikely. If peace is unlikely, Israel will expand its settlements to effect transfer. Terrorism is committed by those who aim for the destruction of Israel and settlements are not significant to them.

RE: "With no rights? Second-class residents? Hm."

I am disappointed. I paired Pals returning to their ancestral homes in Israel as Pal citizens with Israelis living in the West Bank (in a Pal state) as Israeli citizens. Successful implementation of this symmetry will represent real peace.
