If we spent as much money on new energy technology as we do on taking energy by force of arms, oil would be on the verge of being obsolete by now. You hit the nail right on the head. Our whole "dependence" on Middle Eastern oil is the biggest scam in human history. As if the nation that put a man on the moon within a decade couldn't figure out an alternative way to run our economy than oil? I mean a hard hitting energy efficiency plan would at the very least lessen our dependence on ME oil. But, that is not the program that the "powers that be" want to follow. There are just too many people in high places that make their fortunes from oil, black gold. Therefore we continue, decade after decade with our dependence on ME oil.
