it will end a bloody quagmire---give it time. Yes, time will tell, and I'll give you 10 to 1 that you're wrong. I forget who originally came up with "It was a splendid little war", but it's an appropriate sentiment in the case of the recent events in Iraq, IMO.

Not necessarily. Even in such primitive cultures as the Arabs, the religious dictator people are small minorities. WE stay until the voices of reason are assured an equal amount of power. WE stay until the stable middle class is on it's feet. WE stay, until both THEY and WE are certain that they won't get ripped off by the French and Russians anymore-nor screwed up by the socialist IMF or the terrorist UN. When WE have created a stable, enlightened Iraq, WE become obsolete by default, and we can leave. Whether it takes 6 months or 6 years, it doesn't matter. THAT'S the New Colonialism. Get used to it. Self-determination in the primitive Third World has FAILED, and will be done away with over the next 20 years...
