I agree... perhaps SH knew what seemed all to obvious and thus knew that, as if up against the Borg, resistance would be futile. And yes, I've read the stuff pushing for war with Iraq going back at least to '98, and earlier as I recall. I would think there would be a point where groveling would be too unsightly to consider in any event.

Hi Mike,

Funny you should say this. I just wrote to an op-ed columnist of the NY Times about this same possibility. Seems that Bin Laden played right into the administration's hands on this one. Makes you wonder if the gov't was down on their guard just licking their chops for him to pull off something like, but not as horrific as 911, in order to justify the current invasion. And speaking of Bin Laden, my understanding is that his main goal was to get the US out of Saudi Arabia. Today, such a withdrawal of US forces was announced. Hmmmmm....
