interest rates as high as they are down there will not take that long to work their magic (bringing inflation down), IMO ... might be late to go long the rand, BWDIK.

Mexico had pretty high rates for a while -- I see the peso is coming back in now.

here are some ideas -- replace the SA shares with long-dated calls -- buy some cheap puts near term to protect yourself -- reallocate some to american golds -- the problem with the last idea is that, they may not be that great a relative value right now.

use a stop is the simplest ... sell if goes down below a pt with the idea of buying back if it starts moving up past that pt again ...

all this assumes you think there is going to be a bull market in gold or that we are in one ...
