Yes, I agree with you. There are big differences between R&D and IT. But my premise still holds. If your MIT guy/gal is making $125K + options and everyone is saying that if a tech company has to expense options, they'll export MIT person's job to India, well, that tells me they are paying too much. They should try to cut the options and maybe even give that person a 10% raise. Then their expenses don't go up alot and they remain happy. Or if they are unhappy, then they leave and you turn right around and hire the next guy with 10 years more experience who's been looking for a job for over a year now and will take a below average salary just to put food on the table for his family. That's reality Liz.
