How do I reload ActiveX?

Hi

I am running Windows98 on a 550MHz Dell PC

Sometimes my windows gets "slow" and things like viewing files trees in an explorer window can take a long time, just to go up or down a level. This often clears up when Windows tells me to go to the MSFT site and install the latest major update. Then it runs fine (fast) until some website has some sort of programming error and screws up some switch and then it seems I have ActiveX or some other video driver problems again.

It can often be really slow just to reload an IE window where you can see the icons reload one at a time! Rebooting helps here, but it is still slow until a major reload.

It was suggested I might be able to just reload ActiveX to fix this.

I've tried to reload windows from my CD and run through the MSFT steps again to get it back to speed, but it usually hangs, even if I disable my virus protection. My guess is I have to uninstall Norton Systemworks 2003 to get the DOS level protection to go away so I can reload windows... that is a ton of work. I'd prefer to just reinstall the last major upgrade from Windows or, better yet, find a way to reinstall ActiveX.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
