From a political point-scoring standpoint, wouldn't it have made better sense for Repubs to wait until the eve of the debate to make an issue out of the venue? Seems they did the Dems a favor if they indeed blew the whistle on it this early.

The Reps try to lambast the Dems for scheduling a debate in a theater named after a civil war figure while they continue to do their wink and a nod to racism. (Is this comment too heated for this forum, Bill?)

We will see. You and I can handle it, but steam is going to come out of a lot of ears.

You will not be surprised to find that I think the racism is on the part of the Dems. After all, they tend a base of 90% of the Black vote!

I think the best way for the Reps to go is to forget about pandering to any Southern Racists. They are going to get the KKK vote that doesn't vote for David Duke types, like it or not, just like the Dems are going to get any Commies that are still rattling around out there who not voting Green or Nader.

The Reps need to keep chipping away at this new rising middle class Black vote that is getting bigger and bigger. They are a natural group for them, and only a few percentages of them could make a big difference.

Have the debate in the Longstreet Hall.

This is the kind of petty, one day crap, that so delights the base on either side, and goes nowhere. I think the media delights in finding and trying to make an issue of it. We have to keep remembering, the media's job is to find or make controversies. That's what sells the soap!
