And that is the greatest obstacle to peace - the minority who refuse to accept co-existance at any cost. And don't forget that there is also an Israeli contingent in that minority.

As I have said numerous times before, the only way to succeed in such situations, as several other nations learned through painful experiences before Isr/Pal is to isolate the extremists who will refuse coexistence at any cost from the rest of the population.

RE: "...the first bloodshed in this second Intifada was the small boy who was machine-gunned while his father vainly tried to protect him."

I don't believe you are correct about "first", but, if you are, you should be able to direct me to a URL that will confirm your point.

RE: "there were no suicide bombings in retaliation for the failure of the talks..."

My Taba reference cites a bombing during the Taba discussions. "retaliation for the failure" is not the point, bombing as a response, is. A precise motive for the bombing is difficult to ascertain.

Please don't forget that the first bloodshed in this second Intifada was the small boy who was machine-gunned while his father vainly tried to protect him.

Incorrect. The first bloodshed of the Intifada was the Israeli troops firing on unarmed Palestinian demonstrators, one day after Sharon and 1000 Israeli troops marched around the Muslim holy site to display their intent on taking it. This was followed by a 6 week orgy of Israeli violence, by rampaging settlers as well as by Israeli troops. Then came the first Palestinian suicide bombing.
