rruff,

I don't have a laptop to compare, but eye strain became a big problem with 1600 x 1200 19" crt. Dropping back to 1280 x 1084 helped, but switching to LCD helped even more.

A couple of things to note about the resolutions, which you may already know.

The 19" at 1280 x 1084 will give you less real estate than the 15" at 1600 x 1200. Although I'm positive the eye strain will be considerable lessened with the 19.

I notice very little difference between the 19" vs. the 18" at the same 1280 x 1084 native resolution. So if the price point is considerably less on the 18s, you might consider one.

edit: By less real estate I mean you will see less on the screen at the lower resolution, even though the physical area is larger.
