I haven't used Ad-ware, so maybe someone will answer you more specifically.

Spybot found and erased Alexa junk on my machine, but not in the registry. I have had Spybot make registry changes to remove stuff without problems. It makes a backup so you can reverse the changes, though I never have had to. If your program makes the registry changes for you and offers an undo, I'd go ahead and let it do its thing.

Just make sure you save it first. If you delete it after you have it saved and notice something is not working right you can restore it.

You can delete it with impunity. It is placed by MSFT.
