The free mkt is hard to gauge for specialized employees, thats for sure though. So whether these engineering salaries really come down to "what the market will bear" remains to be seen. For example take executives- I'm talking VP level, treasurer people like that. Plenty of those on the market right? But I'm not expecting those salaries to decline to "market rates", just doesn't work that way. Same with some marketing areas... promotions, corporate marketing etc., always WAY more people on the market than jobs for those fun areas. But salaries stay high, why I can't tell you.
