Jerry Springer is about the achieving the breaking point. Blowing things up, regardless of the results. I thought we were talking about something else.

A point that I made earlier is that you can achieve a tension between positions that is not rising to the breaking point. It is just a holding of ground, so to speak. If this occurs on the boxing ring, then the discussion becomes stagnated. To further the discussion we have to allow some antagonism but I agree that it should not be exaggerated. Referencing common ground is useful too when the sides of the arguement are not engaged.
