this whole thing is a 'roadmap' to nowhere.

Its a 'roadmap' as in directions/intentions/expectations. Its not a Treaty. One needs to start from "somewhere". Sure there will be haggling on all sides, but even for that to happen, "something" needs to be a starting point. I believe, that is what this is. Nothing more, nothing less.

re: road map: Unfortunately, the most likely outcome, is that both sides make insincere promises to comply. Abbas and Arafat continue to say they are doing everything they can, to stop the bombers, but the bombing goes on. Israel promises to freeze settlement activity, but continues building, by annexing territory to existing settlements, completing previously-started projects, "organic" or "natural" growth, etc. By 2004, Bush is saying to Blair, "Oh, well.......can't blame me.......I tried......" And that, probably, is the only purpose of the road map.
