A question. The US seems to have captured a lot of big time ME honchos. Do you think there will be more of kidnappings for trade because of our holding the top guys?

Ish,
I think terrorist attacks will continue. I do not know how to predict the form with certainty.

The experts who study this subject everyday and those with access to the highest levels of classified data unanimously suggest the attacks will come in the war-like forms of nuclear, chemical, and biological attacks. (Is SARS an experimental release of a new bio weapon?) They also predict massive attacks against the internet.

For the last three days, I attended Techno 2003. Some of the top internet and physical security specialists in the world gave presentations. Each and every one of them believes the WWW and LANs are more vulnerable now than ever.

Some of the experts believe we have sufficient security rules, regulations, hardware and software to protect our IT systems. The weak point is, in their opinion, humans. The rules and procedures outlined are cumbersome and folks do not fully utilize them.

The others believe that all systems out there today are inherently flawed. They think the wide range of completely different products accessing the WWW make it impossible to obtain compatible and universal security. Thereby creating huge windows of vulnerability.

The physical security experts and counter-intelligence folks who spoke are equally convinced additional substantial attacks are coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
