Mark,

Re: In reference to that last link, why do you think Cokie Roberts and Jim Lehrer are CIA plants?

Because of their content on the airways. By "plant", I do not necessarily mean that they are on the CIA payroll. I do truly believe that they have "minders" from the agency who monitor the contents of Robert's opinion pieces and Lehrer's selection of "experts" for the News Hour.

You must have observed that lately on the News Hour the vast preponderance of the 'experts' seem to be ex-military or affiliated with the defense contractor world. There is no dissenting voice on the News Hour. Conspicuously absent from the list of invited guests would be intelligent and useful commentators like Arianna Huffington, Robert Scheer, antiwar.com's Justin Raimundo, Jonathan Schell, Helen Caldicott, foreigners (aka the French), Bennie Morris, Edward Said, Robert Fisk, George Monbiot, Andreas Zermach, Greg Palast, Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, Michael Moore or any of the other hundreds of recognized experts who simply don't accept the "company line" on the naked aggression in Iraq.

There was an interesting rumor I read yesterday, and haven't had a chance to confirm. So this is hearsay, but interesting nonetheless. It was claimed that for the past few months, the CIA has had agents "imbedded" in the newsroom of CNN in Atlanta. The purpose? Obviously to act as a censor and prevent the American public from getting the same "news" that CNN International provides to 200 other nations and that the American public is sheltered from.

In a time of war, censorship is paramount to the government.

As to Ms. Robert's opinion pieces on NPR and her performance until recently on ABC, all I can say is that she exhibits absolutely no inclination toward independent investigative journalism. She is a world-class regurgitator of the "news" that the government wants the American public to hear. She's shilling for the government. Advocating their position and whoring. Totally abandoning the role of an independent "free press" that was designated by our Founding Fathers as a curb on government tyranny. She's a failure in that role.
