Guy get a bucket of water out off a ship (100 years ago) and record the temp. Compare this with the accuracy of today's technology, and the size of today's samples and you see what I mean by compare the dtoday's data with the unrelaible inaccurate data of 100 years ago.

HEY! You're getting to one of my main points on 'markets'... ie. probably ANY generalization about asset class returns [certainly 'stocks outperform in the long run'] are statistically so insignificant as to be laughable.
