From what I've read, we've had numerous warnings over the past 5 years. This is typical "chatter". 9/11 was not the first attack. In today's news, we see the supposed mastermind of the Cole attack was arrested in Pakistan. The real problem is figuring out what is real and what is simply "chatter." Otherwise, we would be code "red" on that ridiculous Homeland Security warning system 100% of the time. These things are way more complicated than most realize, but that doesn't lead to the conclusion that we did it to ourselves. Has our defense been somewhat incompetent? It's easy to criticize and I do it too. I believe we are incompetent in many areas of government. However, I believe things are improving.
