Most Americans believe it is too easy to get into this nation illegally or even legally on a temporary basis given the current state of terrorism in the world

"Illegally", you may be right. However, "legally", it is not easy at all.

Have you ever needed a visa? It is not a pleasant process, nor is it short or easy. And that is just for a week or two of stay in the US.

For longer term visas, especially a green card, you go through hell and high water. If you lose your job, you are kicked out immediately. You cannot even change your job for this very reason.

I know a Kurdish guy doing his MBA in an Ivy League school in the US. After 9/11, FBI harassed him several times. Now, the US state can take him in and hold him INDEFINITELY, say, if his ex-girlfriend goes to the police and says she saw him reading about bombmaking.

Are you OK with that sort of thing?
