Rumsfeld arrives in Kabul for talks with Karzai
(Updated at 1740 PST)
KABUL: US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld arrived in the Afghan capital Thursday after touring Gulf states including Iraq, a press report said.

Rumsfeld was welcomed at Kabul's international airport by several top American officials when he touched down just after 4:00 pm local time (1130 GMT).

He headed directly to a US military-run training center for Afghanistan's
nascent army. Rumsfeld will meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai and address the media before flying out Thursday night.
