Well, I can respect that. I'm a deeply devout, practicing skeptic and cynic, though unlike most folks I find appropriate rigidity in maintaining that posture versus both sides of the belief spectrum: those that embody memes, and those which are wildly exotic.

There are great notional dividends in recognizing that while media enterprises are first and foremost businesses, it's also lots of fun (indeed, cathartic) for many people to see themselves as victims of a great, widespread plot that - in many cases - only they and a select group are aware of; doing so also provides for a psychological framework that permits the shirking of many unwelcome accoutrements of personal responsibility.

And, incidentally, I think one very good point has been raised here thus far, though I don't recall by whom: why hasn't there been an investigation yet? I have my own theories about that, and they are not exceptional.
