A simple formula, followed by maybe five or ten percent of the world's population at most.

every child should have the opportunity to learn, to try to his wings, to find out what he may be good at, in a protected, happy, and social environment until the age of what ? 18, or 20, thereabouts. Bikes, cars, toys, school, sports , vacations, travel, good books, safe family environment. A trade to follow , a way to make money in the society.

We cannot fix the whole world and the Africans and N Koreans will have to wait for ideas on what can be done

I agree. What u suggest is a macro-scale solution for me. I work on a much more micro-scale solution : I sponsor 3 kids - Afghanistan, India and Iraq at about $30 per kid per month. The money goes towards their education. I cannot fix the world, but if I can make life better for 3 kids, thats good enough for me. when these kids graduate school, I'll find 3 other kids to help.
