Neither SDARS company offers Hawaiian music.

One point you left out -- you forgot the part about one of the SDARS companies having well over 90% of the market to date. (just needed to rub it in a little)..

thnx Altern8... I knew that essentially the performance issue had to do with the angle the signal came into parts of the US. Thank you much for the explanation. It is most helpfull.

I have been around technology for most of my life as I know you have based on your posts. I'm sure you konw that companies do not succeed soleley because they have the best technology......as a matter of fact I'd say in my experience the technology superior company has lost ulimately to the company who takes the first market share, manage the media, the channel, margin, service etc, etc.

I will always root for the superior technology to also have the management capabilities as we all win then. Good luck to SIRI in this battle. The ting that I take away fron this discussion is that there is no reason to believe that this market is not big enough to support 2 or more companies.

I was in the data industry and worked for a competitor of Cisco. IMHO (do not want to debate) Cisco never had the superior technology to many other vendors. As I said to David IP over ethernet is a far inferior technology to other cell based transports. But...alas for the masses who are familiar with the products because of initial market share and dominance the square peg is forced through the round hole because that's what customers are most comfortable with.

I hope this market is big enough and early enough for SIRI to overcome the initial market share of XMSR. In my experience this is extremely difficult and made more so by those "good old boy" alliances that you say XMSR has sold out to.

If nothing else you have made me believe there is room for debate which means there is room for SIRI to succeed..........of course this should mean some investors will "take the risk" and put some money in.....AKA higher stock price...

Thnx again for your insights,

Mike

would like to qualify something I said.......

I said "in my experience the superior technology comapny ultimately lost" (paraphrased)

Actually lost is not correct. Ultimately the superior technology succeeds but usually under the umbrella of another company via aquisition, merger etc. Soooo....as an investor it is always wise in these times of early markets to pay attention to the technology leadr....

Thnx again,

Mike
