Real shame our guys got treated so bad.

The "Abe" was in Pearl for a Saturday layover last weekend. I was walking to Coconut Willies down Kalakaua and came upon a procession of anti-war types leading a parade the other way. As they slouched by, chanting "Get out of the Middle East," I couldn't take it, and started booing them. By the third "Boo," I was amazed to be joined by about twenty others in the booing. The marchers gave us a shocked look and scurried on down Kalakaua to the park.

When I got to Willies I found a group of Sailors off the Abe putting away some beer. I talked to them. They were an ordnance gang that had been loading bombs. I told them, "I thank you, the people thank you, and your country thanks you."

Made it a great evening.
