MKO does not have a popular base in Iran. I have heard fiercely anti-Islamic Iranians curse at MKO with passion. US would actually win some good points with both the people and the government of Iran if it had kicked them out of Iraq (better to have handed them over). The reason for the hatred towards MKO is that during the Iran-Iraq war they fought along side Saddam against Iran. People can forgive many things, but this is not one of them.
