The entire human rights campaign has not been supported by the right, save with very, very rare exceptions.

Lets start with the fact that the Democrats own the "Human Rights" issue, going back to Civil Rights. Just the way the Republicans own the Defense issue. These two views are not a matter of argument, polls show people think they do--amazing how much of practical politics is "PoMo," isn't it?, all appearances, not reality.

The right sees the left's attachment to "Human Rights" as a based on the "there ought to be a law" approach, which they feel has unexpected consequences. The left sees the right's "free market" approach as cold hearted, country club, "let em sleep under the bridges."
