11:06 ET Sun Microsystems follow-up 3.60 +0.26: Stock has risen as much as 10.2% today on heavy volume (already 1.3x stock's avg full day total) amid market chatter of takeover possibilities. At this point, the rumor does not appear to have made it past trading floors. But after asking around, the idea of a SUN Micro takeover isn't being perceived as far-fetched. One analyst we've spoken with this morning thinks that an acquisition of SUNW by Dell Computer could create an opportunity for Dell to extend server roadmap into UNIX camp. Would note that this analyst hasn't heard the SUNW rumor, this is just his opinion on whether a buy of SUNW, by anyone, would make sense.
