Hi Don, ditto for the social security system. What people want today is not social security but retirement savings. Social security systems always end up failing. Market driven retirement savings tagged to a social security # and invested in age-based mutual fund accounts are the only future that holds any promise. I own a few age based 529's for my children and I think those investments are the best investment invention since investing was conceived. It takes all of investment theory (diversification among classes and categories, rebalancing based on horizon, etc) and does all the work for you without a financial planner charging you 1-2% for the benefit.
