<Where Helen Clark fails to figure out the details, is that the United Nations in its present form is very much Law of the Jungle, which she decries.>

Got to work with what you've got. Great Leaps Forward usually don't.

As a practical matter, the only alternative to being a U.S. colony, is UN control. Everyone agrees that a rapid withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq would quickly lead to chaos. There are no other nations who want to unilaterally take on the job. Interesting that Poland (along with the U.S. and UK) will be running one of the 3 occupation zones Iraq will be divided into.

The world is imperfect, and the UN reflects (and sometimes magnifies) that imperfection. Corrupt, incompetent governments send corrupt, incompetent people to staff and run the UN.

A United Democratic Peaceful Efficient Nations would have how many members, max? Let's count them (this won't take long):

New Zealand
Singapore
Thailand
Japan
South Korea
Germany
Canada

That's it, folks. 7 out of 200. Pitiful.
