Okay, but it was not characteristic of their relationship. Rather, he made an ass out of himself on a regular basis, too, particularly when trying to teach her a lesson. He was not aloof, and she was not particularly obedient. No one blamed him for being unmanly that he could not control her. The thing demeaning to women in the equation was the indulgence of childish behavior. Even so, the men were only marginally better than Lucy and Ethel, often getting into ludicrous fights themselves.........
